In a research study 500 consumers from the uk where asked by the user-experience consultancy User Vision wich 5 items in everyday life they found most difficult to use.
60% answered that the Video Recorder is the most difficult item to use followed by the Child car seat.
I wonder why the personal computer or the mobile phone is not in the top ten. Maybe consumers thought that computerlike devices have to be difficult to use and named items from wich the expect simple usage only. “Difficult-to-open packaging appeared regularly in the research – particularly for such items as batteries, orange juice/milk, tinned corned beef, CD and DVD players, razors, and Easter eggs. Adhesive tape was also a popular choice, with the inability to find the ‘end’ a major bug bear for several people.”
